Knox News: Why a Stowers Machinery leader is leaving the family business for green energy

Ed Rottmann has spent the past 10 years as the COO of the family-owned heavy machinery business Stowers Machinery Corporation.

Now, he’s leaving the Knoxville legacy business to start a new venture: renewable energy.

Rottmann is launching Chroma Energy Group, a renewable energy company that will initially focus on solar.

“I thought the best way to get into the renewable energy market was to focus on solar,” Rottmann told Knox News in an exclusive interview. “(To) combine my interests in construction and projects, and what I think is the most viable carbon free source of electricity at this point in time, which is solar.”
